An eSIM is a digital SIM built into the phone. Install your travel eSIM on Wi-Fi before departure, then switch mobile data to it after you land—and follow the product page on whether data roaming must be on.

Before vs after arrival

  • Before: confirm eSIM support, unlock status, Wi-Fi, and keep the QR / activation data. Do not switch data to the travel eSIM yet.
  • In flight: leave airplane mode on; do not delete the new eSIM.
  • After landing: enable the travel eSIM for data; keep the Taiwan line for SMS if needed, but stop it from using data.

Four checks first

  1. Device supports eSIM (e.g. iPhone XS / XR or newer; Android by model)
  2. Phone is carrier-unlocked
  3. Stable Wi-Fi for install
  4. QR / SM-DP+ details saved offline

iPhone / Android outline

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → scan QR or enter details → label the line → after arrival set it as mobile data. Android: look under Network & internet / SIMs / Add eSIM (names differ by brand).

If it will not connect

  • Confirm the plan start date / coverage country
  • Toggle airplane mode; restart; re-enable data roaming if required
  • Check APN only when the product page says so
  • Contact support with order ID before deleting the profile
