K-Drama Locations: Filming Sites of Netflix's Business Proposal

Business Proposal, the hugely popular Korean drama adapted from Yeondam's webtoon of the same name, shot straight to the top of Netflix's chart the moment it dropped. It stars Korean-Canadian actor Ahn Hyo-seop (Dr. Romantic 2) and Kim Se-jon (from PRODUCE 101 and Kokdu: Season of Deity) in the lead roles. Sure, the plot leans on familiar tropes, but the light, laugh-out-loud storyline and the tightly paced development of two couples pull viewers in before they know it, and with a new episode dropping every Monday, Mondays have never felt better!

In the show, Shin Ha-ri (played by Kim Se-jon) lives above her family's Goobne fried chicken shop, with the store on the ground floor and her home on the second. In reality, the production only used the exterior of a café called "Sandeul-eondeok Café" for filming; the interiors were all built on a separate set.

Lifelong best friends Shin Ha-ri and Jin Young-seo frequently hang out at "Mengteongguri Tteokbokki" — and this spot has quite a history! Nearly 22 years old, the shop is known for the graffiti-covered signatures scattered across its walls, each one a little piece of nostalgia. Beyond Business Proposal, this spot has also appeared in Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant and True Beauty!

Chef Lee Min-woo's restaurant appears several times in the show, and this elegant, retro-styled restaurant is actually a stylish multi-purpose café called "Yeonnamjang Café". You would never guess it is a café from the outside — most scenes were filmed on the first and second floors where the café itself operates, while the third floor is a coworking space. If you ever travel to Korea, it is well worth stopping by for a coffee!
Where Kang Tae-mu and Shin Ha-ri "first meet in New York on a rainy night"

Before meeting Kang Tae-mu's grandfather, the pair rehearse a cover story about how they supposedly first met "in New York on a rainy night" — and this scene was actually filmed at the Gyeonggi Future Education Paju Campus. With its distinctly American and European-style architecture and streetscapes, this campus has doubled for overseas locations in numerous Korean variety shows and dramas, including PRODUCE 101.

Wanting to get to know Ha-ri better, Tae-mu checks her social media and discovers she wants to eat good food and visit the beach again — so he invites her along under the guise of a business trip. The beach they visit is Hajodae Surfyy Beach in Yangyang, only about two hours from Seoul and a favourite summer escape for locals — and Korea's very first private surfing beach!

Tae-mu brings Ha-ri to meet his grandfather for the first time at "Seungjamwon", a traditional Korean-set-meal restaurant housed in a hanok, and also a well-known tourist spot in Gyeonggi-do. The drama My Roommate Is a Gumiho also filmed here.
The izakaya where Jin Young-seo and Team Leader Cha meet again

Young-seo and Team Leader Cha cross paths twice at this izakaya — the first time when she ends up sharing his table while waiting in line, leading to an awkwardly funny scene, and the second time when she gets drunk and he worries over her. This spot carries some of the key beats in their relationship's development.
Tae-mu and Ha-ri celebrate their one-year anniversary

In episode four, Tae-mu's grandfather insists the couple celebrate their one-year anniversary together, and the riverside restaurant they visit has quite a story behind it! This gorgeous riverside setting is The River in Seoul, an upscale yacht club whose premium Italian restaurant, "BELLA CUCINA", is where Tae-mu and Ha-ri dine in the show. The venue is also frequently used for weddings, conferences, private events and product launches!
